Tell Me About Yourself.
- I
was born in Southern Illinois, raised in Las Vegas,
Nevada and live in Stafford, Virginia
(about 40 minutes South of DC) with my wife and two children.
- I
retired from the Navy in 2002; I was an Assistant Program Manager
for the Submarine Electronics Technician/Reactor Operator Community. I
hold a Master's Degree in Public Administration. I am currently a Manager & Program Analyst for an engineering
support contracting firm, in Springfield,
Virginia.
- I’ve
served on several Boards of Directors, among them–The U.S. Naval Institute
in Annapolis and the National Capital Area
Chapter of ASPA in Washington,
DC.
What Did You
Do In the Navy?
- As
a Master Chief Reactor Operator, I supervised the operation and
maintenance of nuclear plants on three submarines, including the
troubleshooting and repair of electronic and electro-mechanical systems. I
qualified Engineering Officer of the Watch and am certified a Master
Training Specialist and Electronics Mechanic.
- I've
been an instructor in several settings–Taught in the classroom, in the
lab, and in the plant.
- I
led teams from as few as 6 or 7 technicians to as many as 35 or 40 plant
operators.
- My
last several years on Active Duty, I was in the Manpower and Personnel
field in OPNAV–In charge of the men and women who staff the propulsion
plants in nearly half of all our Navy warships.
- Now,
I’m a civilian, again–The Senior Calibration Program Coordinator at
Unified Industries Incorporated, in Springfield,
VA.
What Are Your
Plans?
- I
loved my time in the service–I was privileged to give so much to our
country. I was promoted to the very top of my field–Qualified and served
in demanding assignments both at sea and ashore.
- I’ve
made the transition to civilian life–I’m now a contractor in northern Virginia. But, I'm
ready to move on and move up, again.
- I
am seeking a position as a Program Management Analysis Officer in an
agency that emphasizes critical thinking to deliver outstanding
enduring-value solutions.
- I
am available in the Washington,
DC area, willing to travel
and have an active Secret Security Clearance.
