Problem |
The growing
“self-diagnosis of - Contributed to the dramatic rise in
health care costs - Turned many of us into hypochondriacs |
|
Solution |
Limit TV time. I propose that commercials for prescription
drugs not be allowed to exceed 25% of TV ads, for any hour of broadcast/cable
time. Also, in support of the
above, establish a government portal on the Internet, where drug companies
can ‘publish’ the ads that they wish to run (both traditional web pages, and
a “You Tube” – like presence). |
|
Remarks |
With the free
government portal and the growing use of search engines, there is no longer
an imperative for TV exposure for new, high-cost drugs. |
