Political ads on TV

Problem
Statement

Political ads on TV are driving up the cost of campaigns and driving down the selection of quality candidates

Solution

Limit TV time.  I propose that candidate commercials not be allowed to exceed 25% of TV ads, for any hour of broadcast/cable time.

Also, in support of the above:

     - Legislate that ads for candidates polling in the double digits be provided at a rate of 25% of market cost.

     - Establish a government portal on the Internet, where candidates and parties can ‘publish’ the ads that they wish to run (both traditional web pages, and a “You Tube” – like presence).

     - This would have no affect on “news” programming – only on paid “commercials.”

Remarks
Explanation

With the government portal (free to candidates) and the growing use of search engines, there is no longer an imperative for TV exposure, as there once was.
